writing takes time
Sometimes, I feel bad about how long writing takes, whether it's a blog post, a journal entry, or otherwise. How much of it amounts to "comparison is the thief of joy" with how much abundant, consistent writing I find? I have written about adjacent topics like adaptive blogging and how people like Sam prefer No rewriting, please.. Have I addressed the point at hand?
I recently stumbled upon Henrik's admission of how long his writing takes: It takes me between 10 and 200 hours to write an essay. At a larger scale, it's been over a decade since Visa started one of his ongoing writing projects: 1,000,000 words by @visakanv - 1,000 word vomits of 1,000 words each.. My posts often end up shorter than Henrik's essays or Visa's word vomits. That said, hearing and seeing these established writers take their time is a genuine comfort blanket.
Maybe writing takes as long as is necessary.
