Imperfect

when to post

Dustroy admitted that I still don't know when I should post here.:

I think bear is very cool as a platform, but I'm still not sure when exactly something "needs to" or "should" be here.

I post pieces that fit this space once I made them compelling enough to post. You might require a simpler mechanism though. You could try a randomizer like Maximus did for Thanks for your delicate response or live out Sivers' Hell Yeah or No rule:

If you feel anything less than “hell yeah!” about something, say no.

Dustroy continued:

With social media it was always very simple, as the platforms were largely reactive, you respond to something someone else wrote.

Independent, minimalist publishing platforms being much less reactive than social media doesn't stop me from responding to others. In fact, that creative mode comprises the vast majority of my posts. All that occurs without on-site niceties like comment sections, guestbooks, and otherwise. If you wish, you can follow my lead. If not, plenty of other leads and roads not yet taken lie before you.

I think with Bear I just wind up thinking on my own and then deciding "yeah, that thought is done, let's go do something else!". I truly don't know if the whole blogging without responses is a think that comes naturally to me.

Whether it feels natural to you or not, you can train the muscle of sharing your thoughts and conclusions before doing something else. Releasing polished pieces or imperfect drafts into the world is worth celebrating. As a bonus, offloading the knowledge in your head can even sharpen your focus for your next activity.
