In Finding and keeping your voice (post deleted), Robert says:
Some posts gain more traction, and we're tempted to continue down the same path.
Doubling down, both on what works and what doesn't, can be a beginner's best friend. Take your time and analyze whether what gained you traction is something you should capitalize on. Conduct the same experiment with creative work that gained no traction at all. If you have the time, do the same for everything in between.
Luckily, there's more to creativity than mere traction. Explore other aspects too. You can spend your lifetime doing so if you wish to. A work being superlative in any set of aspects doesn't mean it's meaningful to the individual you, let alone the collective you. Understand what works and what doesn't with the knowledge that circumstances constantly change. Discover how your insights could work for others you care for that would find them valuable. Then map out your world together to the best of your ability.
