soothe scary sharing
In i barely share good things online, Skuka admits:
looking at my blog, you could think i am in general a very unhappy person who cares about ai way too much, which i get. i do not really share any good moments that i experience online - i think it's because it would almost hurt if i got no feedback, or if someone wasn't happy for me. when i rant into the void and sometimes nice people respond to it, that feels fun. if i share an achievement or embrace a sweet moment publicly, silence in a response to the post would be defeating.
Many solutions exist for soothing such sentiments if you seek to do so. Public mementos of good moments experienced online can feel gratifying: now when sharing them, and in the future when looking back at them. Treating yourself as your own audience can provide attention, feedback, or even happiness by default. Lacking positive or any feedback can be treated as constructive information or a nearly inevitable part of variance over self-imposed hurt. Gifting responses and congratulations whenever you think someone deserves it can encourage them to return the favor or go beyond that when appropriate. And while there are surely more methods to overcome the struggle of sharing positive moments, maybe this is where your imagination could kick in to find them.
I would be grateful for more people sharing good things online.
