Imperfect

self-inflicted wounds

I resonate with Path of Thought's AI Is Like Any Other Tool - It All Depends On How It's Used:

I don't understand why there's suddenly so much focus on AI here - not meaning from people promoting it.

I actually only noticed posts from people complaining about it "being here". 😅

My view on AI is pretty simple.

Like any other tool, on its own it is just kind of "there".

People are what give things meaning.

Those lines of thinking lead me to believe that June's culprit in i feel stupid (it really is that damn phone) isn't the phone. Similarly, it may not just be the damn AI. In Should we stop talking about AI?, Moonlamp Station shares their take:

That said, for those of us who don't like AI infesting everything, I think we're all just talking about it way too much. They say the opposite of love isn't hate, but indifference.

As for myself, I think the best attention I can give AI is none at all. And I expect I'll be happier for having done so.

Yet, attention was given.

How much meaning do you impart into tools and use cases you consider "bad" compared to those you consider "good"? How does that behavior benefit promoters and enthusiasts of the former? Could your footgun serve them ambrosia? Perhaps it serves you a slice too...
