rethink junk media

In Junk media makes me loose passion, Nice Minimal starts off by saying:

One negative effect that junk media (i.e., reddit, youtube, instagram, ...) has on me is to loose passion for what I deeply care.

While you don't technically need "junk media", I think it's as good as you make it. Does the way you use it serve your passions, what you deeply care for, and what you love doing? If not, how can "junk media" or any other stimuli serve your desires best?

They continue:

More often than not, I unfortunately find myself scrolling on my phone or laptop, watching stuff which I really don't care but that makes me feel bad afterwards. Whenever I consume these types of media, I feel numb and unmotivated to do any of the things I listed above because everything seems boring and uninteresting. Yesterday, I thought about this, and I felt sad that I sacrifice so much time doing things I don't like instead of doing things I love.

Scrolling is one thing. Shaming, guilt-tripping, and abdicating your agency outside yourself for scrolling is another. Could your motivation to act derive from your action itself? In order to taper off lamenting unwanted sacrifice, can you resume what you love as gradual redirection from what you say you don't love? Once you're busy doing what you love, you may just find that what you think diminishes you in the present further augments your fulfilling life instead. And should your passions change, you adapt.
