rejuvenate your internet
Inspired by Chad's Dreams of the internet of years past.
I keep seeing people mistake their Internet as the Internet. I'm guilty of the same. Yet, any one person only finds so few networks. Instead of deeming the behemoth dead or alive, explore how alive its inner workings are.
Each network varies per person across factors like creativity, community, and connectivity. Find then enrich people and spaces with the highest possible reciprocal value. In My Rules for Engagement, Rohith prioritizes attention applied toward what you want done and fully experienced. I think his rule of "selective focus" applies to the above problem of scale well:
I don't need to have an opinion or take a stance on every problem in this world. My energy and time are limited, and I need to focus on the problems I can control or impact.
Do you think that your Internet is now commercialized, bloated, and otherwise plagued? If so, what can you learn and share from of the parts of it with opposite attributes?
Do you think that your Internet is not fun, lovable, or otherwise worthwhile anymore? If so, what can you learn and share from other people who think it still is?
Make your Internet fun again.
