Imperfect

publish internet imprints

Inspired by Dabi's Is necessary that I publish this?.

Everything you publish to the Internet is an imprint of yourself. Visitors can remember you through it and share your essence with the rest of their world. They can do that whether you are here or not. Sure, you could do the same with conversations or notes. Would it be easier?

Nobody must publish everything they write. I hoard more drafts than my published pieces. Sometimes drafts get neglected or become too unwieldy for publishing anytime soon. Who knows how they will end up? As for other media like journals and notes, I reserve those for my own consumption. Even then, I wonder how useful portions of them could be for people besides myself.

While it can be weird publishing after a long absence, imagine the abundance of what you could say. Depending on how long you were gone, you are that much older, wiser, and more traveled. How many new memories and experiences could you find worth sharing with your world?

Even dusty spaces can adopt their own charm. Leave it be long enough and watch people call it nostalgic, retro, or even vintage. Thankfully, there's no actual dust to be found on the Internet.

You don't have to publish anything. Whether you want to or not is your call. However, I think that creativity which inspires other creations is a compelling reason to continue the act.
