project cadence descent

The best time was twenty years ago. The second best time is now. However, how do we decide which of our available projects to tackle now?

Here's an idea: tackle projects from highest to lowest cadences between actionable steps. If one project takes longer than another to become actionable again, start or continue the first before the second. Rinse and repeat for however many projects you have to work on until you can address any of them again.

Without needing to multi-task, this could maximize your efficiency and background progress. Visualize just how many different projects you can make moves on within the timespan of one. Offloading projects with longer cadences early could clear your head to advance shorter projects without disruption. These benefits could instill the perseverance needed to finish your projects.

Projects with instantaneous or unclear cadences can slot in however you see fit: as routines, in between all larger cadences, or interspersed throughout the above framework.

As much as this can assist with work, I think this approach could be as or more suitable in other domains. If you have tried this style of project management or something similar, how has it worked out for you?
