Imperfect

plaintext email addresses

Over a month ago, I updated my post template to include more email methods per reducing contact friction. In short, I added my plaintext email address, Letterbird contact form links, and better copy for replying via email clients. Most emails I received before the update had the subject line defined in my mailto: link. All emails I received after the update had custom subject lines. With that in mind, I don't suspect anyone has used my mailto: link since the update. Also, I haven't received any emails through Letterbird.

With that in mind, I suspect that visitors find my plaintext email more useful than other contact methods. I can think of multiple reasons why that could be the case. Respondents may prefer webmail. They might not or cannot have email clients installed on whatever devices they use. It could be that much easier, preferred, or secure to copy my intact email address than to hassle around with links.

If those willing to reach me truly prefer plaintext emails, a few questions arise:

Whether my assumption is true or not, I invite you to email me with your thoughts on the matter.
