maximize people nets
Inspired by Nerveship's Socialising on the modern net.
By and large, I believe that I haven't used the net enough as a valuable space when it comes to group-based social interactions.
Talking to your friends on the computer can be fun. In their company or otherwise, you can practice not taking things too far: arguments, rudeness, cliques, and even conflict aversion. Eventually, you can teach those lessons to friends who are receptive enough to learn them.
Balancing doing and talking to your satisfaction first within any given timeframe can stop larger group settings from feeling like distractions. If you don't know what you want, distractions can even be synonyms for discovery.
The modern net, like the nets of your childhood and neighborhood, remains a net of people to find warmth within.
