islands and archipelagos
Inspired by p-adic's looking for a direction.
Blogs and similar spaces allow an ambiguous online presence. There's no involuntary corporate or social media pressure to be busy, available, or even online. I can be as present here as I'd like to be.
Thinking there is no time to make is fair. That terminating thought also underestimates the power of creativity and incremental progress. That said, while writing is valuable, there are many more important things in life.
Although everything decays, voluntary data deletion can go as great as it can poorly. Mixed emotions and formative events can also arise from involuntary data removal. Time often dictates the true nature of the outcome.
Treating my digital presence like an ephemeral island compared to an interconnected archipelago may needlessly avoid risk at the cost of massive upside. Don't I deserve a home base or a few to connect, categorize, and unblock my alter egos and their products?
I can weep over lost opportunities or plant a seed now to water over the years. Speaking of process, what is my mission here? Are my gardening habits nurturing my spaces and myself how I envision they should?
Is bootstrapping myself away from reciprocal people the best behavior I can imagine?
