everything is catch-up
Inspired by Matan's Writing Without Apologies: A Reminder to Myself.
Having your writing serve you well is important. Realizing your audience exists helps you consider how your writing could also help them.
Cleaning a slate blank after some downtime can feel good. You can achieve the same effect whether chapterizing single events or condensing a year of events into a single unit.
Family and friends may wonder where you have been. They would like to know what you have been up to in your absence. Others may empathize, having been gone for an amount of time from certain spheres of theirs.
Even when journaling, catching up after lengthy gaps can reveal both internal and external changes. Ultimately, you control how you engage with your past self. Exploring those changes works as well as starting fresh.
Enough consistency with ground rules you want to explicitly set can implicitly convey them to yourself and your audience. Writing why answers why not between the lines.
Everything is catch-up from the posts we publish to the motions we take. Gratitude for how much there was, is, and can be can show the way forward.
