encrypted messenger persuasion
TL;DR: Most contacts message me over SMS. Few use more private and secure encrypted messengers like Signal and SimpleX. How can I best convince more contacts to use said messengers?
Which of these strategies (if any) worked best for you?
- Add so much value to contacts by constant communication that they feel compelled to switch when I ask
- Persuade with emotional arguments (if so, which are most effective?)
- Persuade with logical arguments (if so, which are most effective?)
- Install desired messenger on their device(s) with their consent
- Master and execute the art of sales for this express purpose
- Employ scare tactics or other dark patterns to influence switching
- Break my SMS app (or pretend that it's broken or somehow hacked) to where my contacts can only reach me on and/or become only comfortable using messengers I suggest
- Give up and find new people to communicate with whom value your privacy, security, and (in some cases) anonymity
- Endlessly suffer
Please suggest more in-depth, better, or other strategies. Reply to this post with a blog post, social media post, social media comment, or other such reaction.
It's true that I could search for strategies or ask artificial intelligence instead. I can also try igniting dialogue among known tech-savvy users. This crowdsources answers and better ideas to help myself, others interested in the same goal, and everyone else privy to the discussion. The more this ask gets proliferated, the better my advocacy and chances of encouraging encrypted messenger usage become.
