embody balanced longevity
Inspired by Nadine's i miss the small web!.
No matter how lonely you feel in the void, your words travel farther than you think. That works great when someone connects with you, but poorly when someone suffers from your ultimately false warning. Think about the wicked, unseen effects your words could incite before opening your mouth. Had I not jumped the gun, others wouldn't have jumped ship. However, expressing peak productivity since the real, underlying (and now fixed) issue was first encountered in upgrade to discover reeks of irony. I could have closed up shop but instead chose to double down.
I admit that it's not always that simple. Sometimes, life throws you curveballs you can't react to. Having only recently ended a month's streak myself, managing over 3 months of daily blogging is quite the achievement. With how easily streaks can be broken outside your control, could longevity be a more reliable key toward fulfillment? People find what lasts throughout the years and decades valuable.
For the most part, I treat publishing like I treat hunger and thirst. I eat when I'm hungry. I hydrate when I'm thirsty. I write when I'm inspired and publish when I'm ready. Sometimes, polishing pieces to satisfaction takes longer than an ongoing streak can accommodate. Losses are acceptable; I'm here to learn. I get back on the horse when I can.
Who maximizes contrasting social media experiences the best, even if for separate activities altogether? What stops us from finding balance with or within many extremes?
- Big and small
- Corporate and independent
- Popular and niche
- Public and private
- Town squares and sanctuaries
Absorb the best of spaces. Resist the worst of spaces. Could wielding magic be better served by a connective paradigm through spaces instead of one limiting it to certain spaces?
Finding balance is a forever game. Yet, those can be some of the most fun games to play.
