defuse moral panics

In AI Is Just Another Napster Moment, Yordi says:

Artificial Intelligence is just another piece of new technology that came into our world and won't leave us anytime soon.

Agreed, it's another tool you can choose to add to your toolbox.

Aren't you glad we, as a society, progressed past moral panics like video games causing violence? After taking some time to acclimate to the new technology, gamers across the world continue to embrace the pastime to this very day. We don't need to ban novel, superseding technologies as such just because it might put specialists in older technologies out of work. I think believing that the latter can adapt to changing dynamics is a part of believing in humanity as a whole. If you don't think they can adapt, is there any way you can help?

While technology does makes progress at the expense of some people, I believe collective human ingenuity still finds a way to create a surplus. Whether it's acknowledging that bank teller numbers increase after ATMs rolled out, or that photography and new niches within the field increased in popularity through the advent of the smartphone, we can be optimistic about our growth with technology.

I see worrying over AI as an artist as equivalent to worrying over automation throughout history. People regularly buy plenty of goods from human providers despite how many automated factories and processes exist elsewhere.

If a producer create a performant product, consumers will still buy it. How the product is made can affect how many consumers still buy it, but most consumers pay attention to a product's results. Is it possible that AI critics focus too much on features compared to benefits that consumers engage businesses and services for?

People say they don't see AI helping with everyday household chores while using similar time-saving appliances like microwaves, washing machines, and dishwashers. People touting AI-generated art as lazy and untalented art compared to human-made art must have not used tools like rice cookers, calculators, or even a fire to assist their labor before. I don't get their pattern of attention when they can spend their time and energy hyping up the producers that need them the most.
