compress friend-making
This part of Cuifen's copenhagen, 2026: three decades stood out to me:
Years ago, I gave a talk at my alma mater. Ostensibly it was a careers talk, but looking back, I thought then and I still think that the most important thing I had to say to them was to cherish the friends they have in school, because it gets harder and harder to make friends as you grow up and these friendships will become the anchors of your life.
Let's zoom in on how "it gets harder and harder to make friends as you grow up":
- Even if it has been true based on personal experience, how much does saying as such perpetuate it?
- What good could arise from saying it gets easier instead?
- How many viable friend-making options can you find at your disposal that you haven't yet tried or aren't currently trying?
- Even with limited resources for any of those options, can you try those with little to no cost?
