cherish breaks
A reply to Bearly Significant's On failure.
Dear Bearly,
Breaks can help us whether they are intentional or not. They can recharge our minds and bodies, so we return to activities stronger. Lamenting a lack of commitment can highlight their importance. It can also reveal a desire for more flexible commitments.
Sometimes, personal circumstances take precedence. These give us time to rethink or rebuild our momentum. Work-life balance can be a solid foundation. Until that's taken care of, the other commitments can ease up. You have enough notes for visitors to peruse. Your audience can wait.
Meanwhile, let's explore the benefits of what you have done lately. Disengaging from an audience or platform opened up new vessels to explore. Starting personal development is an accomplishment. You have met commitments to the best of your ability in the classroom and the newsroom. That's a lot to have taken care of!
Pat yourself on the back. You made it this far. Know that you can go so much further in due time.
Patiently waiting until I can adapt your syllabus,
Imperfect
